TotalEnergies has filed for regulatory approval to build a 1.5-gigawatt offshore wind farm off Normandy, requiring a $5.2 billion investment. The project, awarded by the French government eight months ago, will be located 40 kilometers off the coast.

The application marks France’s largest renewables initiative, surpassing prior offshore wind developments in scale. TotalEnergies’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Centre Manche Energies, submitted the request for a single authorization, including technical and environmental assessments.

No immediate market reaction was disclosed, though the project aligns with France’s energy transition targets and TotalEnergies’ renewable expansion strategy.
