Market capitalization of tokenized stocks, commodities, and metals on crypto platforms jumps nearly fivefold in 18 months.
The market capitalization of tokenized traditional assets on centralized crypto exchanges reached $6.6 billion in June 2026, up from $1.4 billion in January 2025. The growth was driven by rising demand for tokenized equities, commodities, and precious metals, particularly through perpetual futures trading.
Precious metals initially fueled the expansion, but US stock perpetual futures later overtook them in trading volume and open interest. Investor interest in semiconductor stocks and anticipated IPOs contributed to the shift. Derivatives dominate trading activity, with spot markets remaining relatively small.
Exchanges like Binance, OKX, and Bybit are expanding into tokenized assets amid competition from traditional brokerages and decentralized platforms. The trend reflects broader adoption of hybrid financial products bridging crypto and traditional markets.
