Passenger battery electric vehicle sales soared 140% year-on-year, offsetting a 34% decline in ICE vehicle sales.

Thailand’s vehicle sales rose 17% year-on-year to 58,724 units in June, driven by a 140% surge in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales to 22,275 units. Internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger vehicle sales fell 34% to 8,114 units during the same period.

The market’s recovery aligns with Thailand’s accelerating GDP growth, which reached 2.8% in Q1 2026, up from 2.5% in Q4 2025. Government spending and private investment growth supported the expansion, though private consumption growth eased slightly.

Year-to-date, total vehicle sales climbed nearly 15% to 346,966 units, with BEV sales up 93% to 104,418 units and hybrid sales rising 21% to 81,502 units. Pickup truck sales declined 4% in the first half of 2026.
