The Railroad Commission of Texas imposed $1.1 million in fines for compliance violations during its latest enforcement meeting.
The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) assessed $1,111,897 in penalties against oil and gas operators and businesses for regulatory violations. The fines included $509,905 from default orders for non-compliance and $601,992 from agreed orders resolving enforcement actions.
The RRC, which oversees drilling, production, and pipeline safety in Texas, issued the penalties as part of routine compliance oversight. Default orders target operators failing to appear at proceedings, while agreed orders require corrective actions.
The enforcement decisions will finalize unless operators file timely motions for rehearing, according to the agency’s procedures.
