Deal aims to integrate blockchain infrastructure and USDT settlement for tokenized assets on Kenya’s securities market.
Tether signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to develop blockchain-based market infrastructure and tokenized securities. The agreement includes exploring the use of USDT as a settlement layer and Tether’s Hadron platform for issuing and trading digital assets, pending regulatory approval in Kenya.
The tokenized real-world asset sector has grown to $36.8 billion onchain, excluding stablecoins, while stablecoins like USDT, with a $184 billion market cap, are also considered RWAs by some market participants. The deal follows rising global interest in blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
No immediate market reaction was disclosed, but the partnership signals expanding adoption of digital assets in emerging markets.
