Tesla retained majority US electric vehicle market share in Q2, though total EV sales fell 20% amid broader industry weakness.
Tesla maintained a 50.5% share of the US electric vehicle market in the second quarter, down slightly from 54.2% in Q1, according to industry data. The company’s unit sales declined 13% year-over-year to 124,800 vehicles, outperforming a 20% drop in overall US EV sales.
While Tesla’s global deliveries rose 25% to 480,126 units, the company lost market share in Europe and China. Competitors like BYD, Geely, and Volkswagen gained ground in those regions. US market dominance stemmed from steeper declines among domestic rivals.
Tesla’s long-term focus may shift toward AI and robotics, though EVs remain its core business for now.
