Pavel Durov announces native Gram wallet integration for Telegram’s 1B users, enabling zero-fee transactions by summer 2026.
Telegram will integrate a native non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet into its app, targeting over 1 billion monthly active users. The wallet, supporting Gram (formerly Toncoin), promises instant, zero-fee transactions and full user control over funds, unlike the existing custodial Wallet bot operated by a third party.
The existing @wallet bot, used by 150 million registered users, currently holds keys on behalf of users. The new wallet shifts to a non-custodial model, aligning with Durov’s vision for decentralized financial access. Gram’s price rose 7% on the announcement but remains 88% below its May peak.
The rollout is expected to complete before summer 2026, potentially accelerating crypto adoption among Telegram’s global user base.
