Wall Street indexes rise modestly as strong tech performance offsets geopolitical risks and fluctuating oil prices.
US equities opened higher on Thursday, recovering from midweek losses as technology shares advanced despite escalating Middle East tensions. The Nasdaq Composite led gains, rising 0.62% to 26,030.46, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.41% and 0.16%, respectively.
Oil prices remained volatile, with Brent crude futures down 0.62% at $77.54 after briefly touching $79 a barrel. US crude fell 0.92% to $72.84. Benchmark 10-year Treasury yields dipped to 4.56%, reflecting sensitivity to inflation risks tied to geopolitical developments.
Global markets mirrored the cautious optimism, with MSCI’s all-world index up 0.47%. Analysts noted bond markets were closely tracking oil price movements, which could influence interest rate expectations in the near term.
