Taurus enables institutional clients to connect digital asset infrastructure to Swift’s ledger for tokenized deposit payments within days.
Digital asset infrastructure firm Taurus has connected its tokenization and custody platforms to Swift’s blockchain-based ledger, allowing institutional clients to link existing digital asset systems for payments using bank-issued tokenized deposits. The first client integrations are expected to launch within days, with initial distributed ledger technology transactions anticipated within weeks.
Swift’s ledger, announced for initial use in July, serves as an orchestration layer for 24/7 cross-border payments via tokenized deposits. Seventeen banks across six continents are preparing pilot transactions, with Standard Chartered and HSBC completing the first live cross-border transaction in recent weeks. The system coordinates transfers before final settlement through existing real-time gross settlement arrangements.
The integration aims to streamline institutional adoption of tokenized assets by leveraging Swift’s global payments network. Taurus’s platforms will facilitate direct connectivity, reducing friction for banks and asset managers entering the digital asset space.
