Strategy sold 1,690 Bitcoin for $108.6 million last week, continuing its BTC Monetization Program launched in June. The sales fund dividends, cash reserves, and securities repurchases, a departure from its long-standing buy-and-hold strategy.

The company, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, accumulated billions in BTC since 2020 but began selling in 2026 as market conditions shifted. CEO Phong Le indicated sales would occur if beneficial for shareholders, while Executive Chairman Michael Saylor emphasized the goal was not to be a net seller.

Strategy’s pivot follows years of advocating for Bitcoin as a treasury asset, with its accumulation strategy influencing other corporations. The latest sale aligns with its stated flexibility to optimize shareholder value.
