SpaceX will invest $100 billion to develop a new spaceport in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, marking its largest launch site. The project, named Starbase Louisiana, includes five launch complexes, propellant production, and employee housing, with construction starting in 2027.

The facility will join existing SpaceX sites in Texas, Florida, and California, targeting initial flight operations by 2029. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said the project pushes the state’s total new investment beyond $250 billion, positioning it as a hub for aerospace innovation.

Starbase Louisiana aims to support SpaceX’s Starship program, which plans to enable large-scale space travel and satellite deployment. The site will feature 10 launch pads and infrastructure for vehicle processing and power generation.
