Retail investors who sold SpaceX shares shortly after its June 12 debut are estimating missed gains of up to $60,000 as the stock rallied sharply. Allen Tran, who runs HaiKhuu Trading, booked a five-figure profit but later calculated he left significant upside on the table by exiting early.

SpaceX went public at $135 per share, raising $86 billion in the largest IPO on record. The stock closed its first full trading day at $161, a 19% gain, and extended its rally to nearly 50% above the offer price by Tuesday. Brokerages like Fidelity and Robinhood allowed pre-debut share requests, drawing strong retail interest.

Trading group chats reflect widespread regret among investors who either sold too soon or failed to buy in at the IPO price. The stock’s rapid ascent has left even profitable traders feeling they underperformed relative to its potential.
