Elon Musk’s aerospace firm discloses a $1.45 billion Bitcoin position in its IPO filing, unchanged from year-end 2024.
SpaceX revealed a $1.45 billion Bitcoin holding in its IPO filing, underscoring Elon Musk’s long-term bet on the cryptocurrency. The company acquired 18,712 Bitcoin for $661 million in 2021, with the position remaining static through 2024.
The filing confirms SpaceX as a top 10 corporate Bitcoin holder, though the firm trimmed its original 25,724 Bitcoin stash in prior years. Last year, the company reported a $112 million unrealized loss, followed by a $955 million paper gain in 2024.
Bitcoin holdings are custodied by third parties, and on-chain data previously suggested partial liquidations, though the filing clarifies the current balance.
