SpaceX (NASDAQ: $SPCX) is buying artificial intelligence (A.I.) coding assistant Cursor for $60 billion U.S. in an all-stock deal.

Elon Musk’s space exploration and satellite company said Cursor will become a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX

The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of this year. Cursor is an A.I. model developed by San Francisco-based start-up company Anysphere that can code for people. More From Cryptoprowl: Launched in 2022, Cursor is credited with sparking a trend called “vibe coding,” which is when A.I. autonomously produces computer software.

Vibe coding uses natural language prompts to guide an A.I. assistant to build, debug, and refine applications rather than manually writing code. The acquisition of Cursor comes as SpaceX looks to grow its role and presence in A.I. Earlier this year, SpaceX merged with Elon Musk’s A.I. firm called xAI.
