SpaceX’s artificial intelligence segment reported a $6.4 billion operating loss last year amid heavy infrastructure spending.
SpaceX’s artificial intelligence division recorded a $6.4 billion operating loss in 2025, more than double its $3.2 billion in revenue. The company is investing heavily in data centers and specialized hardware to compete in the AI cloud computing market dominated by hyperscalers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
The AI infrastructure build-out requires significant upfront capital for power infrastructure and supporting networks. SpaceX faces competition from established players and emerging neocloud providers such as CoreWeave and Nebius Group, which offer aggressive pricing and specialized services.
Despite the losses, SpaceX is positioning itself as a provider of sovereign, scalable AI platforms for commercial and government clients, including potential Pentagon contracts.
