Healthcare stocks led the rally, with the sector up 3.52%, its best performance since April 2025. Moderna surged 176.97% and Merck & Co. gained 12.60% after announcing successful skin cancer vaccine trial results. However, semiconductor stocks weighed on gains, with the Philly semiconductor index falling 2.12%.

The positive sentiment extended into Asian markets, with the Hang Seng rising 1.14%, the Nikkei up 1.18%, and the KOSPI jumping 6.25%. European equities lagged earlier in the session.
