Investors brace for tech earnings and Federal Reserve guidance after the S&P 500 records its second straight weekly decline.
The S&P 500 fell 0.61% last week, marking its second consecutive weekly decline for the first time since March. The drop occurred despite a rebound in semiconductor stocks, with the Philly semiconductor index rising 1.24% over the same period.
European and Asian markets showed resilience, with the STOXX 600 up 0.46% and the Nikkei gaining 0.73%. US futures pointed higher at the start of the week, with S&P 500 futures up 0.71% and Nasdaq futures rising 1.17%.
This week, around 35% of the S&P 500’s market capitalization, including Microsoft, Meta, Apple, and Amazon, will report earnings. Investors will scrutinize AI-related spending trends and Fed policy signals for directional cues.
