SK Hynix began trading on the Nasdaq on July 10 via American depositary receipts, marking the second US-listed memory chip stock alongside Micron. The move provides US investors access to the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market, driven by data centers and AI accelerator demand.

SK Hynix holds a dominant 56% share of the HBM market, supplying Nvidia, the leading AI chipmaker. The company pioneered HBM production in 2013 and remains the largest producer, bolstering its competitive edge in the volatile memory chip sector.

Micron, the sole US-listed memory chip stock since 1984, now faces direct competition for investor capital. Both firms benefit from rising demand but operate in a historically cyclical industry.
