ET. Silver opened just above $60 on Thursday for the first time since July 10. The metal has gained 7.3% over the past week as investors weigh inflation concerns against safe-haven demand.
The gold/silver ratio at the open was 67.9, which is in line with the average since 2000. The ratio calculates how many ounces of silver it takes to purchase one ounce of gold. Investors use it as an indicator of each metal’s relative value.
