Silver retreats to $58 per ounce after surging on AI-driven demand for data center infrastructure and renewable energy applications.
Silver prices have fallen sharply to $58 per ounce, down 50% from a January peak of over $115. The decline follows a rapid ascent driven by surging demand for AI data centers, where silver is used in server connections, thermal materials, and renewable energy components.
Mining supply has failed to keep pace with demand, constraining silver availability despite its critical role in high-tech and green energy applications. Prices quadrupled from $29 per ounce starting in April 2025 before the recent pullback.
Shares of silver-linked assets, including the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) and producers like First Majestic Silver (AG) and Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM), have also declined amid the price correction.
