XAG/USD rises for the first time in three sessions, trimming year-to-date losses amid a softer dollar and lower gold-silver ratio.
Silver prices climbed 1.37% to $58.38 per troy ounce on Monday, recovering from Friday’s close of $57.59. The move trimmed year-to-date losses to 17.88% as the dollar weakened and investor demand for precious metals picked up.
The gold-silver ratio fell to 69.56 from 70.19 on Friday, signaling relative strength in silver. Analysts cited lower interest rate expectations and geopolitical uncertainty as key drivers for the metal’s safe-haven appeal.
Traders also noted silver’s role as a portfolio diversifier, with physical bullion and ETFs seeing increased flows. Supply dynamics, including mining output and recycling rates, remain secondary factors in the near term.
