Silver September futures trade at $59.47, down 1.1% from Tuesday, amid Fed rate hike expectations and reduced industrial demand.
Silver September futures opened at $59.25 today, down 1.1% from yesterday’s opening, and climbed slightly to $59.47 as of 8:05 a.m. ET. Prices have remained below $60 since December 9, 2025, with little sign of near-term recovery.
The metal has faced persistent pressure from a stronger dollar and anticipated Federal Reserve rate increases. Industrial demand for silver has also weakened, while central banks continue to support gold, exacerbating silver’s underperformance. Year-over-year gains have slowed sharply from 173.3% in mid-May to 64.3% currently.
Silver’s decline mirrors broader struggles in precious metals, though it has fared worse than gold. Futures show a 20.3% drop over the past month and a 0.2% decline week-over-week.
