The deal expands Second Nature Brands into protein snacks with a brand generating over $175m in annual sales.
Second Nature Brands has entered the meat snacks sector by acquiring Tillamook Country Smoker, a producer of clean-label protein snacks. The financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, but Tillamook reportedly generates more than $175m in annual sales.
Tillamook, founded in 1975, specializes in zero-sugar jerky, beef sticks, and sausages, operating two manufacturing facilities in Oregon. The company was acquired by private-equity firm Insignia Capital Group in 2017 and employs approximately 480 people.
Second Nature Brands CEO Adam Butler called the deal a strategic fit, citing Tillamook’s reputation for quality and innovation. The acquisition aligns with rising consumer demand for on-the-go protein snacks, the company said.
