The Central Bank of Ireland approved Schroders’ blockchain-based share class, enabling automated transactions via J.P. Morgan’s tokenisation system.

Schroders received regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Ireland for a tokenised share class in a US dollar money market fund, marking its first such launch. The new share class, Schroders Onchain Active Returns (SOAR), leverages J.P. Morgan’s Kinexys tokenisation platform to automate transactions like redemptions and transfers using smart contracts.

The move follows growing client demand for digital asset products and more efficient fund operations. Schroders previously introduced tokenised features in its insurance-linked securities platform earlier this year. The firm highlighted potential future applications, including collateralisation and 24/7 liquidity management.

Kinexys global head Kara Kennedy stated that tokenised financial infrastructure is reshaping liquidity and settlement workflows. The approval reflects broader industry shifts toward blockchain-enabled fund structures.
