The $1.7bn cheese producer expands into deli sections with purchase of refrigerated dips and quiche maker.

Sargento Foods has agreed to acquire La Terra Fina, a California-based producer of refrigerated dips, spreads, quiches, and salads. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in late September and will help Sargento enter deli sections at grocery chains nationwide.

La Terra Fina, founded in 1983, operates a manufacturing plant near San Francisco and employs approximately 250 workers. The company distributes its products across the US, Canada, and Mexico. Sargento, which reported $1.7bn in net sales for 2025, produces shredded, sliced, and snack natural cheese products and employs over 2,500 people.

Sargento’s CEO stated the acquisition aligns with the company’s long-term innovation strategy. La Terra Fina’s leadership highlighted cultural alignment as a key factor in the transaction.
