The deployment of autonomous AI robots in SAP’s logistics hub boosts throughput and cuts repetitive labor tasks, marking a shift to operational AI.
SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) and Cyberwave have deployed fully autonomous AI robots in SAP’s logistics warehouse in St. Leon-Rot, Germany. The robots perform box folding, packaging, and shipping fulfillment using SAP’s cloud-native Logistics Management solution and Business Technology Platform.
The initiative transitions Physical AI from research to operational use, addressing challenges in logistics robotics where traditional systems struggle with unpredictable environments. Cyberwave’s platform uses Vision-Language-Action and Reinforcement Learning models, reducing robot training time from weeks to hours.
The deployment has increased warehouse throughput and reduced physically demanding tasks for human workers. SAP views the project as a reference for combining digital infrastructure with adaptive AI to enhance logistics resilience.
