Fund cites tough user engagement comparisons and margin pressure from safety investments as reasons for exiting Roblox position in Q2 2026.

Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund sold its entire stake in Roblox Corporation (RBLX) during Q2 2026 after the stock fell 72.42% over the past year. Shares closed at $37.79 on August 7, 2026, down 32.87% in the last month alone, reducing its market capitalization to $27 billion.

The fund noted Roblox faced difficult comparisons following a surge in engagement and increased spending on safety features that pressured margins. While revenue growth and profitability had improved since the initial investment, near-term challenges outweighed long-term potential.

Roblox’s platform has expanded beyond viral games, broadening engagement and monetization, but the fund exited due to heightened vulnerability in the current setup.
