The South Korean chipmaker sets a record payout range, responding to rival SK Hynix’s recent 40 trillion won buyback.
Samsung Electronics will return between $65.1 billion and $79.52 billion to shareholders by 2026, the largest such program by a Korean company. The plan includes 30 trillion won in third-quarter cash dividends, with details to be finalized in late October.
The announcement follows SK Hynix’s 40 trillion won share buyback and aligns with Samsung’s 2024-2026 pledge to return 50% of free cash flow. The company paid 20.9 trillion won in dividends in 2024 and 2025 and aims to compete in AI memory chips.
Samsung’s stock has surged 135% year-to-date, reflecting investor confidence. Remaining payout details will be decided in January 2027, combining dividends and buybacks.
