Norwegian salmon producer SalMar has agreed to purchase a 70% stake in rival Måsøval for Nkr 3.4bn ($349.2m). The transaction values Måsøval at Nkr 4.84bn, with SalMar paying 10% in shares and the remainder in cash.
Måsøval, an integrated salmon farming business, operates along Norway’s coastline and manages smolt production through to global sales. The deal follows prior industry consolidation and aims to enhance resource utilization and long-term value creation.
SalMar stated the acquisition will strengthen innovation and infrastructure, leveraging shared history and expertise in Norwegian aquaculture.
