The defense contractor wins a modification to provide production, engineering, and repair services for the Navy’s torpedo program.
Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) has been awarded a $112.3 million contract modification by the U.S. Navy for work on the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo program. The deal covers production, spare parts, support materials, engineering services, and hardware repairs for the MK 48 MOD 7 system.
The contract builds on existing support for the Navy’s torpedo fleet, a critical component of undersea warfare capabilities. Prior agreements have focused on sustainment and modernization efforts for the MK 48, which is deployed on submarines.
Shares of SAIC, traded on NASDAQ, may see limited immediate reaction as the contract aligns with the company’s ongoing defense logistics portfolio.
