Retailers report over 80% growth in hardware wallet sales as Russia prepares to implement stricter cryptocurrency rules.

Russian hardware wallet sales more than doubled in the first half of 2026, driven by rising demand ahead of new cryptocurrency regulations. M.Video reported a 107% quarterly increase in unit sales, while Wildberries saw an 84% year-on-year rise in the first half of the year.

Wildberries’ average price for hardware wallets dropped 13% to 7,900 rubles, and M.Video expanded its product range. However, neither retailer specified the exact cause of the demand surge. The devices enable self-custody but do not bypass Russia’s withdrawal restrictions or eliminate security risks.

Sales growth varied by measurement period, with M.Video comparing Q2 to Q1 and Wildberries using a year-on-year H1 comparison. The trend reflects heightened consumer interest in securing digital assets before regulatory changes take effect.
