Ukraine’s attacks on Russian refineries cut daily crude processing by 1.4 million barrels, tightening global diesel supplies.
Russian refineries processed 3.91 million barrels of crude per day in early July, the lowest level since March 2005. The decline, driven by Ukraine’s strikes on refining infrastructure, reduced output by 1.4 million barrels per day compared to last year’s average.
Moscow responded by banning exports of gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel to prioritize domestic supply. The attacks have targeted at least 24 of Russia’s 34 refineries, disrupting global fuel markets.
The drop in refining capacity has tightened diesel supplies, pushing prices higher amid already constrained global inventories.
