Fidelity data shows Roth IRA millionaires surged to 559,181 in Q3 2025, driven by tax-free compounding in low-cost ETFs.

Fidelity reported 559,181 Roth IRA millionaires in Q3 2025, a record high fueled by decades of tax-free compounding in equity funds. The 2026 contribution limits are $7,500 for savers under 50 and $8,600 for those 50 and older.

Three ETFs—VOO, QQQM, and DGRO—dominate Roth IRA portfolios, offering broad U.S. exposure, Nasdaq-100 growth, and dividend growth, respectively. VOO returned 317% over ten years, while DGRO’s dividend rose from $0.66 to $1.45 per share since 2016.

The Roth IRA’s tax-free structure allows dividends, distributions, and capital gains to compound without federal tax, amplifying long-term returns. Fund selection within the account is critical due to contribution caps.
