Leopold Aschenbrenner loses control of portfolio
Leopold Aschenbrenner, a former OpenAI researcher, published an essay called Situational Awareness in 2024, predicting the AI infrastructure boom.
He argued that improvements in computing power, AI algorithms, and data-center capacity could make artificial general intelligence possible around 2027.
Aschenbrenner’s predictions led to a multibillion-dollar investment fund, but he lost control of the $16 billion portfolio due to leverage costs.
