The Reserve Bank of New Zealand increased its Official Cash Rate by 25 basis points to 2.50%, effective immediately. The move aligns with forecasts as policymakers aim to curb persistent inflationary pressures.

Prior to the decision, the OCR stood at 2.25%, following a series of hikes in recent meetings. Analysts had widely anticipated the 25 bps adjustment, citing elevated consumer prices and tight labor market conditions.

Markets showed limited reaction, with the New Zealand dollar holding steady against major currencies post-announcement.
