The Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to leave its Cash Rate unchanged at 4.35% in its upcoming decision, reflecting recent economic softening. Unemployment rose to 4.4%, exceeding the RBA’s 4.2% forecast, while Q2 Trimmed-Mean CPI came in at 3.6%, below the bank’s 3.8% projection.

The central bank will also release updated macroeconomic forecasts in its Statement on Monetary Policy, with expectations for lower inflation and higher unemployment. Analysts suggest the RBA may signal a peak in its tightening cycle by adjusting 2027 rate projections, potentially easing policy language.

Traders will scrutinize the Board’s statement, particularly any removal of language hinting at further rate hikes. Governor Bullock’s press conference may provide additional clarity on future policy direction.
