The daily yuan reference rate, a key policy signal, will guide trading within a 2% band amid broader FX and economic conditions.

The People’s Bank of China is expected to set the USD/CNY reference rate at approximately 6.7379, a closely watched benchmark for the yuan’s daily trading range. The fixing reflects a managed float system, incorporating prior closing levels, USD movements, and domestic economic factors like capital flows and stability goals.

China’s central bank allows the yuan to trade within a 2% band around the midpoint, intervening if volatility nears the limits. The rate is not purely mechanical, giving policymakers discretion to influence market expectations and smooth excessive fluctuations.

Traders interpret the fixing as a policy signal, with deviations from expectations potentially triggering shifts in onshore and offshore yuan trading. The PBOC may adjust liquidity or deploy state banks to stabilize the currency if pressures mount.
