Oil India has detected natural gas at its Vijayapuram-3 well in the Andaman offshore block AN-OSHP-2018/1, drilled in 355m of water. This marks the second hydrocarbon find in the area, following a September 2025 discovery at Vijayapuram-2.

Testing at Vijayapuram-3 reached depths exceeding 1,900m in the Eocene formation, with continuous flaring and pressure build-up confirming gas presence. The company is analyzing gas composition and calorific value to assess commercial viability.

Oil India has reprocessed 2D seismic data and acquired 600km² of new 3D seismic data to guide future exploration. Preliminary findings suggest a potential hydrocarbon source or migration route in the region.
