World Liberty Trust secures conditional OCC approval to issue and custody a USD1 stablecoin for institutional clients nationwide.
The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has granted preliminary conditional approval for World Liberty Trust Co. to operate as a national trust bank. The firm will replace BitGo as the exclusive issuer and custodian of World Liberty Financial’s USD1 stablecoin, targeting institutional clients across the U.S.
World Liberty Trust will offer digital asset custody services but will not seek federal deposit insurance or access to a Federal Reserve master account. The approval remains subject to final preopening requirements before full authorization.
The move signals expanding regulatory clarity for stablecoin issuers and institutional custody providers in the U.S. digital asset market.
