NVIDIA invests in Lancium for AI power infrastructure
NVIDIA Corporation will spend up to $3 billion in Lancium, a power infrastructure developer.
The deal is structured in two parts: an initial $2 billion for a roughly 20% equity share in Lancium, followed by an additional $1 billion based on the company meeting particular goals.
NVIDIA’s investment fits with a pattern of taking stock interests in the infrastructure layer that makes its chips viable at scale. The company behind the Stargate data center project in Abilene, Texas, intends to leverage NVIDIA’s capital investment to expand operations.
The investment is part of a larger trend, with partners promising to invest up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure over time.
