Nike’s dividend yield reached a historic high after a 3% quarterly payout increase to $0.41 per share, extending its streak of annual dividend hikes to 24 years. Investors need roughly 6,090 shares to generate $10,000 in yearly dividends, based on a $1.64 forward-12-month dividend per share.

The company paid $2.4 billion in dividends over the past year but generated just over $1 billion in free cash flow, raising sustainability concerns. Free cash flow declined due to restructuring costs and investments in stores and products, though management expects a near-term recovery.

Nike holds $9 billion in cash and short-term investments against $7.9 billion in total debt, but margin improvement and free cash flow growth are critical to maintaining dividend payments.
