NextEra Energy posted $2.4 billion in Q2 adjusted earnings, driven by AI data center demand and Florida’s economic growth.
NextEra Energy reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.4 billion, or $1.15 per share, a 9.5% increase year over year. The growth was fueled by robust power demand from AI data centers and Florida’s expanding economy.
The company’s Florida Power & Light (FPL) unit generated $1.4 billion in net income, up nearly 11% from the prior year, supported by over 90,000 new customers. NextEra plans $12 billion to $13 billion in capital spending this year to meet rising demand. Its Energy Resources division saw earnings grow 18% to $1.3 billion, with 1.1 GW of new projects added.
NextEra also completed a 137-mile transmission line in New Mexico to bolster grid capacity for large customers.
