Montero Mining and Exploration Ltd (TSX-V:MON, OTC:MXTRF) has begun a Phase 1 diamond drilling program at its Elvira gold project in Chile. The program includes up to 2,000 metres across four holes, with site preparation and logistical upgrades completed for winter conditions.

The company secured all necessary permits and refined drill targets using geological mapping, geochemistry, and AI-assisted data interpretation. Priority targets were validated through fieldwork and historical exploration data. Drilling will focus on areas identified through three-dimensional modeling.

Upon completion, the contractor’s equipment will move to Montero’s nearby Potrero project for a separate Phase 1 drill program. The company emphasized operational readiness despite challenging winter conditions in the Maricunga Belt.
