The acquisition positions Bonchon for global expansion under new ownership with expertise in franchise growth and Asian markets.
Global Korean fried chicken franchise Bonchon has been sold to Minor Food and Serruya Private Equity from existing shareholders VIP Partners and Mr. Seo & Family. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but the deal transfers full ownership of the brand and operations to the new investors.
Minor Food, a subsidiary of Minor International, currently serves as Bonchon’s master franchisee in Thailand and operates major restaurant brands across Asia, including Dairy Queen and Burger King. Serruya Private Equity, based in Toronto, has a history of scaling consumer and franchise businesses, previously owning Global Franchise Group before its sale to FAT Brands in 2021.
Bonchon CEO Suzie Tsai stated the new owners will enhance the franchise network and accelerate growth, leveraging Korean cuisine’s rising global influence. The acquisition aligns with Bonchon’s strategy to expand in complementary territories under specialized regional oversight.
