The deal integrates Mistral’s AI models into Azure, targeting regulated industries with enhanced security and compliance controls.
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has deepened its collaboration with Mistral, embedding the French AI firm’s models into Azure to strengthen its cloud platform’s appeal for enterprise AI adoption. The partnership adds Mistral’s Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 models to Microsoft’s Foundry app builder and Copilot Studio, offering businesses greater control over security and governance.
The move aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to position Azure as a multi-model AI hub, reducing reliance on a single foundation model provider. It targets highly regulated sectors like finance, healthcare, and government, where compliance and data sovereignty are critical. Mistral will also leverage Microsoft’s European GPU infrastructure to support the deployment.
This expansion follows Microsoft’s broader push to dominate enterprise AI infrastructure, competing with rivals like AWS and Google Cloud. The integration aims to simplify access to cutting-edge AI tools while maintaining regulatory compliance.
