Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) shares rose 6% Friday as investors embraced CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s AI strategy, pushing capital spending guidance above $125 billion. The stock’s momentum follows accelerating growth and the spring release of its first AI model.

A $10,000 investment in Meta in 2016, when shares averaged $116, would have purchased 86 shares. At Friday’s close near $670, those shares are worth $57,600, with dividends adding roughly $400. The total return, including payouts, reaches about $58,000, equating to a 19% compound annual growth rate.

Meta initiated its first dividend in early 2024 at $0.50 per share quarterly, now increased to $0.525. Despite the gains, the company’s growth trajectory remains strong, with AI investments driving future performance expectations.
