Meta has appointed Dawn Song, founder of Oasis Labs, as Vice President of AI Research at Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). Song will lead AI safety and security efforts, bringing expertise from her work on the Oasis (ROSE) blockchain, which raised $45 million from investors including a16z Crypto and Binance Labs.

The Oasis blockchain, designed for privacy-preserving applications, saw its native token ROSE peak at $0.596 but currently trades near $0.006, reflecting a 99% decline from its all-time high. Song’s move follows the integration of several Virtue AI team members into Meta’s AI research division.

The appointment underscores Meta’s focus on advancing AI safety amid growing regulatory and industry scrutiny over artificial intelligence development.
