Meta Platforms is in early-stage talks to lease computing infrastructure to Anthropic in a deal potentially valued at up to $10bn over two years. The arrangement, proposed by Anthropic in June, would involve monthly payments for access to Meta’s resources, though both parties could exit before the term ends.

Meta, traditionally focused on advertising, has not previously sold computing power but is evaluating the offer as demand for AI infrastructure grows. The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, previously indicated cloud computing was under consideration. Anthropic has sought significant computing resources, including a recent agreement with SpaceX.

Shares of Meta declined over 2% at Friday’s close following reports of the discussions, reversing some earlier losses.
