The meme coin sector declined this week, with total market capitalization dropping nearly 1% to $37.75 billion. The pullback followed broader crypto market volatility driven by rising Treasury yields, persistent inflation concerns, and geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.

Large-cap meme coins led the decline, with Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and Pepe (PEPE) falling 6.5%, 8%, and 9.5%, respectively. MemeCore (M) was an outlier, posting a 4% gain. The Trump (TRUMP) token dropped 15% after Trump Mobile announced its T1 handset would begin shipping next week.

The sell-off coincided with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting April 2026 inflation at 3.8% year-over-year, the highest annual CPI print in recent months.
