MasTec announced a definitive agreement to acquire The Superior Group, an electrical infrastructure contractor specializing in data centers and mission-critical markets, for approximately $1.65 billion. The transaction includes $1.175 billion in cash and $475 million in MasTec common stock, along with a performance-based earn-out over three years.

The acquisition targets growth in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure, sectors driven by rising demand from hyperscalers and data center developers. MasTec expects to fund the cash portion using existing liquidity and credit facilities, issuing around 1.2 million shares for the equity component.

CEO Jose Mas described the deal as a “generational infrastructure investment opportunity,” highlighting Superior’s track record and skilled workforce. The move aligns with broader industry trends as AI power demand surges, positioning MasTec for long-term expansion in high-growth markets.
